2017 is here, along with reflections and self-made promises (of which I mostly don’t intend to keep). I actually gave up on resolutions many moons ago once I realized the feeling of utter defeat and helplessness that came upon not fulfilling/sticking with them. Instead, I now look at things more realistically and make attainable goals. For instance, this year, I will work on time management, saying “No”, and being a little selfish (putting me first). I have also made a new reading goal for 2017. Last year, I didn’t read nearly as much as I am used to, due to a very busy and hectic work schedule. This year, I plan on purposefully carving out time throughout my week to simply read. I am currently reading Kristen Ashley’s Colorado Mountain series and am on book 4 in the series (Breathe). This book focuses on the shy librarian, Faye Goodnight, whom Kristen briefly mentioned near the end of Book 3 (Lady Luck). I am really looking forward to delving into this next story and seeing what the author has done differently. Although the stories in this series are all connected, I am hoping for a fresh, original storyline. I am a huge Kristen Ashley fan. However, I have to admit, the first book of some of her series doesn’t always end up starting off so strong. Also, her books are not short by any means. In fact, they are usually approximately 600 pages, or more. So, it takes patience to get throught that first book, knowing something better is just around the corner. Usually, after the first book, her series start to pick up in pace and plots, and only get better and better. So, if you find her books a little slow or repetitive in the beginning, trust me, you want to keep reading. It gets better. Much better!
Hope you all have had a great start bringing in 2017 and starting the year off right, whatever that means for you! Happy New Year!
